Thank you 2018

In many ways, the journey we take over the course of a year is immeasurable. But if I was going to attempt to measure this past year, I can think of no better way than with this stack of art journals.

Some are completed, some stopped halfway, and some are ongoing. It’s been great working with a variety of book sizes, page counts, and paper thicknesses — very much helped by the fact that we have changed journals with each Get Messy season this year. Once upon a time I did everything in a single A4 Moleskine. Those days are obviously gone!

This has been a wonderful year. Being on the Get Messy creative team has been an incredible experience filled with inspiration, encouragement and a huge expansion of my artistic world. I have learned so much, not least of which was how to make art videos! Most of these were tutorials made exclusively for the Get Messy members’ site but I’m planning to share more of these in the coming year. Stay tuned!

Another highlight of my year was ‘The Tale of the Silent Woman‘ – that rather chunky book two thirds of the way up the stack – written and illustrated over the 100 days and nights of the 100dayproject 2018. Sharing the pages each day, I felt as though I was telling a story round a camp fire with a group of close friends. I even got to tell the finished story round a real life fire  at the EarthHeart Wild Woman Summer Camp. You can watch a video of the story here. And there will be a print version of the story coming out soon!

Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I hope you have found it to be a cosy place where you can snuggle in a comfy armchair, a place where you can enjoy a glimpse into the forest, into the starry sky, into the story… all while sipping a good cup of tea. Thank you for all your encouragement and lovely comments. They mean the world to me.

Wishing you a very happy and nourishing new year!

Love,
Divyam xxx
