30 days of yoga (part 2)

I’m so happy to be able to tell you that my 30 days of yoga challenge is still going strong. I know that this is very much helped by the fact that I am able to share my progress with you. Thank you so much for all the support and encouragement!

As the days have gone by, I have found myself including more details about the props I am using. They make such a big difference to my practice.

Once again, on day 9, I found myself back in yoga class. It was the last Sunday of the month and so we focused on restorative postures and pranayama. This is one of my favourites. Soooo relaxing!

Adho Mukha Svanasana is an interesting pose. Sometimes the legs seem to be doing all the work. Sometimes it’s the arms. In this case, with blocks under my feet, it feels like the arms are doing all the work!

I always try to include this posture towards the end of the standings. It’s such a good stretch for the nerves, especially in the back leg. Which is why it feels so good (yet also achy at the same time!)

On day 13, I was sad to miss an IRL Messy Meet-up due to a knock-out menstrual headache. Fortunately I had my yoga practice to nourish me. Forward bends with the head supported are the jam this time of the month and a bandage wrapped around the head is one of the best balms for a headache that I know of.

Adho Mukha Virasana is another one of my favourites. I’m kneeling on a platform of foam blocks so that my feet can dangle off the end rather than getting mushed under my hips. There are foam blocks under the bolster too, to bring it up to the same level. Sometimes I have my face looking down towards the bolster. It can also feel good to rest it for a while on each side (depending on how long you want to stay in this pose!)

Day 16 saw me back in yoga class for LOTS of standing poses. I could really feel the benefit of having done a daily yoga practice these last couple of weeks. At the end of the standings, we gave our legs a good rest in this reclining pose. It’s always quite a set up to arrange all these props, especially in the middle of a class when everyone else has already got settled in the pose! But totally worth it.

Thanks so much for following along with my yoga journey. Only 12 days left to go!

    1. Thanks so much, Gilly! I almost can’t believe I pulled it off! I really don’t think it would have happened if I hadn’t turned it into an art challenge!
