The Painted Diaries – May (part 2)

This week in The Painted Diaries, I had a lot of fun mixing and merging Hundertwasser’s style with my own doodle style. I’m continuing to be blown away by his use of colour, so it may be that I never get round to experimenting in black and white. (Although: never say never!)

One of the things I am loving about this month is how much I’ve been using my water-soluble markers – Tombow Dual Brush Pens, Ecoline Brush Pens, and Crayola Supertips. They are so perfect for adding bold lines of colour and then softening with a wash of water. I’ve also dug out my Neocolor II water-soluble crayons from the bottom of the pile. I had forgotten how saturated and luminous their colours can be. I feel inspired to use them more often.

Here are the pages from the last week or so. Enjoy!

‘The arts have at least the duty to give people hope and show them beautiful paths along which they can go.’
– Friedensreich Hundertwasser

I think this love rocket might be my favourite page of the week!
