The Painted Diaries – May (part 4)

It’s been an incredible month, hanging out with Hundertwasser, playing with shapes and colours and lines, and learning so much. Here are just a few of the things I’ve learnt from Hundertwasser: Be organic with your shapes and lines. Circles can be blobs. Squares can be roundish. Love of colour. Stripes and eyes and houses and trees. Connection with the landscape. Love of nature.

This week, I got totally into using Neocolor II water-soluble crayons. I felt much more in touch with a sense of play and not needing to be detailed or exact. Very relaxing!

Thank you

I have never consciously played with a specific artist as inspiration before. What an incredible learning experience it has been. I can already see his influence spreading throughout my work, merging and mixing with my own style, and becoming something new. I have a feeling I will be revisiting the artist inspiration theme again!

I wonder what the theme will be for the next month in The Painted Diaries? In the meantime, you can check out some amazing art by my fellow artists who are involved in The Painted Diaries here.

See you next month!

  1. Oh Divsy you never cease to amaze me with your inspirational work! The bright colours and shapes all merging together are so pleasing to look at. I especially love your words and curved lines which would make a great piece of art hanging on the wall. I can’t wait for next month too, what an amazing project. Lots of love Gilly xx
