This week I discovered how beautiful the shades of watered-down sumi ink can be. It is so deeply dark when undiluted. Watered down, it transforms into shades of tea, coffee, pebbles and stone…
Running a water-soaked brush along the edge of freshly painted ink
Downward facing dashes become bamboos
Stones and pebbles
Another set of marks I found slightly disturbing. I had intended to make a flower out of lots of tiny marks. Instead they reminded me of ants gathering around a nest. Eek!
